The practice operates a full triage system supported by care navigators, triage assistants, and the clinical team. This system allows the practice to offer care to patients via a variety of methods, including face to face appointments, online consultations via AskMyGP, telephone consultations, home visits and signposting to community and healthboard services including the Common Ailments Scheme, Audiology and Physiotherapy.
In March 2025, the practice began trialling morning clinics designed to improve access to our service and increase the number of patients we see.
All clinical queries are triaged, and patients will be offered the most appropriate pathway depending on their need. If you feel your condition may need to be seen the same day, please contact the surgery before 10am.
Patients may be offered an appointment in one of our “Sit and Wait” clinics – these are held in 30 minute intervals at 09:45am, 10:15am, 10:45am and 11:15am. Patients invited to these clinics must arrive at the start time of the clinic. There is no need to sign in at the kiosk or desk. Patients will be seen in order of clinical priority, not necessarily in order of arrival.
Sit and Wait is by appointment only. Please do not attend if you have not been given an appointment.
AskMyGP operates between 7am and 10am for new requests. The practice also uses AskMyGP to communicate with patients outside of these hours, if they have a valid email address with their account. This allows the practice team to reach you if we are unable to via telephone, and to use questionnaires, photos and forms to help with your query.
Telephone lines are open from 8am to 6:30pm. Patients may log a query via this method for triage and will be contacted back. Please note we are unable to accept repeat prescriptions over the telephone. Test results will be available between 2pm and 4pm.
Home Visits are for patients who are clinically housebound. If you or someone you care for is likely to need a visit from a clinician, please let us know as early in the day as possible.
In some situations of exceptionally high demand where the practice nears safe capacity, patients may be asked to attend the Urgent Primary Care Centre in Neath Port Talbot or Morriston Hospitals. This will be explained to you on the telephone when logging your request.
