Complete a simple registration form and ask a question or ask for advice, you can even select who you want to speak with. You can ask a question for yourself a family member or someone you care for.

Why are we offering askmyGP?

Because we want to streamline the way we operate and give you a faster, more convenient service. You can use the askmyGP service when it’s convenient for you, instead of having to call first thing in the morning.

What is the askmyGP process?

Complete a simple questionnaire to ask a question or seek advice from a member of the practice team. If you are asking for clinical advice you can select the Doctor you usually see or you can select ‘anyone’. We’ll direct your request to the most appropriate person in our team and get back to you as soon as possible.

All requests should be logged during operating hours and we aim to address all urgent requests on the same day. Non-urgent requests will be dealt with within 72 working hours.

When we respond you’ll get an email notification, just click the link in the email to open askmyGP and see our response. If you do not have an email address, you will be contacted by phone. Please make sure you are available to be contacted. You will still be able to access your open requests outside of askMyGP operating hours.

What kind of requests can be dealt with via askmyGP

askmyGP can be used for clinical and administrative requests, both urgent and non-urgent. You can use the service to request your repeat medication, get advice on a new or existing medical problem, make a request for medical records, make use of physiotherapy, audiology and occupational health appointments, ask for general advice and more. Your request will not always be handled by a GP, the practice staff have training on how to best direct you to get help with your query.

I have made a request and haven’t heard anything back – have I been missed?

No. All requests remain on the askmyGP system until actively closed by a member of the practice staff. You will be informed when this happens. Requests are triaged by the clinicians on an ongoing basis. If they judge that your request can be dealt with at a later time, more urgent requests will be dealt with first. We aim to deal with all requests as quickly as possible, however during busy periods those patients with more medically urgent needs will take priority.

It is very important to keep your contact details up to date and give as much information as possible in your requests.
