A new grant scheme has been introduced for unpaid carers in Neath Port Talbot

We all know that patient care does not end at the GP surgery or hospital appointment. Ensuring a patient has the support they need on a daily, weekly or monthly basis is critical to their treatment and ongoing healthcare.

Neath Port Talbot Carers have introduced a Support Grant Scheme for unpaid carers. It is funded by the Welsh Government in order to help with the costs of assisting people who are struggling to cope themselves. They can provide vouchers worth up to £300 to be used at local supermarkets or to purchase househould goods at Argos or Currys.

The grant is open until the end of March 2022.

To get in touch with the team, telephone them on 01639 642 277 or alternatively email them on [email protected]

We at Dulais Valley appreciate the immense positive impact unpaid carers have on the day to day lives of our patients, and we hope these resources will assist them in continuing their help during this difficult time.

If you are an unpaid carer, did you know there is a Carers Liason Forum where you can have your views and suggestions heard, and help shape the future of health and care services in the region?
