We run an online system - Ask my GP

If you or a member of your family feel they need to see a member of the Primary Care Team or need some Medical advice, Please register with Ask my GP. Requests should be made by 15.30pm, we aim to respond to all requests on the same working day. All non urgent requests after 15.30 will be answered the next working day. If your unable to register then please contact the surgery.

If you log your request with 'Ask my GP' you can provide your information straight to the GP instead of providing information over the telephone to the receptionists . If you do not wish to provide such details please advise the receptionist. Your request is logged onto the triage lists for the GP’s.

The GPs read requests on Ask my GP and prioritise them on clinical need. If you need an appointment you will be offered one with the most appropriate member of the team (not necessarily a doctor) to address your concerns. If the member of this team has any concerns then they are able liaise with a colleague immediately – The Team comprises of GPs, an Advance Nurse Practitioner, a Pharmacist and Nurses.

Sometimes depending on the information provided you will be advised to contact another primary health care professional, such as, the local pharmacy, your dental practitioner, and opticians or asked to book for a physiotherapy assessment, podiatry assessment, referred to a mental well being worker or a visit to minor injury unit.

If you are concerned then we ask you to please indicate in the message by placing URGENT in the message, or if you are overly concerned then please contact the surgery.

Our practice is committed to putting patient’s at ease whenever possible and if you wish a chaperone to be present during your examination please do not hesitate to ask the doctor / nurse.

All chaperones are members of staff who are trained to carry out this role. They are trained in patient confidentiality.

It may not be possible for such a chaperone to be provided immediately and you might have to return for the examination to be carried out at a mutually convenient time.

Trust is important in the relationship between doctor / nurse and patient, we would at all times wish you to feel able to ask for a chaperone should you require it.

    Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment we expect at least 24 hours notice, except in extreme cases, so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

We have a STRICT policy for patients who regularly miss their appointments which may ultimately result in the removal of them/their family from the practice list.

If you cannot keep your appointment with the Doctor or Nurse, please let Reception know in good time:

    1. By Telephone:
      Please call us on 01639 700203 / 701660.
    2. By Fax: Please send us a fax on 01639 700010.
    3. In Person: Call into your surgery and let the receptionist know in person.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.
